Non-digital sculpture

I made this sculpture in a class I took with esteemed sculpter, Ed Inks, at SBCC in 2014. The project taught us to visualize the shape and form of everyday 2D objects. Ed challenged us to create a piece of clothing as if it was being warn, making it have volume instead of being a flat object. I chose to recreate a onesie I had as a child. I used many different types of wire including 16 guage silver wire, 20 guage copper wire, and 10 guage, twine wrapped, floral decor wire. I paid close attention to the openings at the wrist and ankles. Once I was finished with the wireframe of my onsie it was time to give it some life. I wanted to have this piece to reflect the essence of childhood. I decided to spray the wire with red, yellow, and blue paint - the primary colors. I then added glitter glue to the "hands". I know that when I was younger, glitter glue was my go to media for painting. I recall somehow always getting little cotton balls stuck to my hands whenever I used it. So naturally I added some cotton to my wireframe onesie. The whole project took about 80 hours to create.
